Welcome to the inaugural podcast episode for The Berlin Life

Meet the founder of The Berlin Life, Cheryl Howard. Listen to her personal story of moving to Germany from Canada, how The Berlin Life came to be, hopes for the podcast, and practical CV advice.

Hallo and Willkommen to the first episode of our new podcast.

Whaaaat? You Started a Podcast?

Consider it a humble and amateur beginning, but I’ve been itching to do something like this for a long time.

🙈 But AHGHHHH! Oh, my goodness. It feels weird to record yourself speaking, listen to it afterward, and clumsily edit the audio clips as best as possible.

I kept thinking, “Who am I to be doing this?” because imposter syndrome is real.

I put off this project for a long time as I never felt confident enough to put my voice out there in the world. Words have always been my preferred method of communication.

But I finally decided to “record like no one is listening” and just see what happens.

What Is the Podcast About?

ℹ️ The podcast will focus on what it’s like to live and work in Germany. I plan to share personal stories and updates about the immigration and labor market, as well as share job search tips based on my experience as a career coach and hiring manager.

Each episode will be short and sweet, anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, intending to help foreigners navigate life and work in Germany.

Tell Me About Today’s Episode

Today’s initial episode is a simple kickstart to this series - I introduce myself and talk about my journey in Germany and how I came to create The Berlin Life. As a bonus and preview of future content, I also share some advice about featuring your skills on a German CV.
