Germany received its worst rating ever in InterNations annual Expat Insider survey. Two areas were rated extremely low: the ease of settling in and “expat essentials,” which include housing, language, admin topics, and digital life. One person remarked, “I find the culture super isolating and uptight. It’s almost impossible to make friends, and I’m always scared I’m breaking some rule.”
Each month, changes happen in Germany that impact all of us. Changes in July include the opening of cannabis clubs (complicated by red-tape), increased pension payments, and A LOT of planned disruptions to the Deutsch Bahn’s train schedules.
In jaw-dropping news, German workers could pay 48,6 percent of income to social security by 2035. Meanwhile, inflation slowed down in Germany much more than expected last month. And the ruling coalition government finally settled the budget for 2025.
