I hear you! I hate the practice too. It's soooo icky and only lends to discrimination. Yet, some employers still expect it and will reject people for not adding one. I like the companies that ask you NOT to upload one. :)
I have just started applying for new jobs and have been told no photos are necessary (hated the practice wholeheartedly since arriving in Germany those 25 years ago). And then I am, of course, asked to upload one - I'd rather not apply for the job then.
